Diario de la Loca de la Casa

(Since 2022)

In July 2022, I lost my mom.
She was many things, but one of the clearest through lines in her life was writing. For as long as I can remember, she filled notebooks, typed up poems, and crafted short stories that reflected her unique way of seeing the world.
She shared many of her writings on a blog she called Diario de la loca de la casa (The Diary of the Madwoman of the House). A name inspired by how Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz described the imagination. It was a beautiful reflection of how my mom viewed her own creative mind: wild, alive, and unafraid.
After she passed, I felt a deep need to do something with her words. I started illustrating some of her stories and poems, eventually turning them into a small booklet to share with her friends and collaborators. It was my way of honouring her, and of staying close to her voice.
This is just the beginning. I’m now working toward publishing her work in a full book, combining her writing with my illustrations. If you’re an editor or someone who’d like to help bring this vision to life, please reach out. I would love to connect.
